"A man dies when he refuses to stand up for that which is right. A man dies when he refuses to stand up for justice. A man dies when he refuses to take a stand for that which is true."
- Martin Luther King Jr.
It is our mission at Hines Legal Professional Corporation to inform people of their rights and obligations under the law and provide them with advice on how to proceed with their case. We understand that each person is unique and that each person has different life goals, which may affect how they choose to handle their case. Regardless of the circumstances, Hines Legal Professional Corporation will be there to support you through your legal issues in a manner that aligns with your individual goals and allows you to move your case forward with confidence and dignity.
In addition to providing competent and professional legal services to the public, it is also the mission of Hines Legal Professional Corporation to engage with and support young law students and lawyers in developing the core competencies required by the Law Society of Ontario. We are committed to offering support and mentorship to marginalized people in the legal profession to ensure that the profession moves toward a more inclusive and diverse body of practitioners that will provide more effective legal services for the next generation.
Allison Hines is the founding partner of Hines Legal Professional Corporation. Her practice is centred on family law and wills and estates issues. Allison is well experienced in litigation and arbitration involving family law matters. She also has worked extensively to help families move forward past separation through negotiation and mediation. Allison also has years of experience drafting wills, providing estate planning advice, and dealing with matters of probate.
Allison was called to the Bar in 2014 in both Ontario and Nova Scotia in addition to being a Notary Public in each province. She graduated with her Juris Doctor from Dalhousie University after completing her Master's of Arts in philosophy from Dalhousie University. Allison also completed a Bachelor of Arts double major in philosophy and history from Cape Breton University.
Allison also has a passion for giving back to her community and has dedicated her time to provide pro bono legal services to marginalized community members. She also continues to work in legal education as a contract lecturer at Lincoln Alexander School of Law. In addition to teaching, she assists budding lawyers in the professional development through her work with Ryerson University's Law Practice Program.
Prior to completing her law degree, Chelsea studied Political Science at St. Francis Xavier University where she delved into the study of human rights and transitional justice around the world. More specifically, she conducted extensive research and analysis on international law and its interactions with cases of sexual violence committed during wartime.
Throughout her legal education at the University of Leeds, Chelsea was always most drawn to the areas of law that affected people and their day-to-day lives. Hence her passion for family law.
Chelsea values the importance of giving back to the community at large. She loves animals and volunteers much of her spare time to local animal shelters by fostering dogs in the interim period between their rescue and their adoption.
